The Sofro family car saga goes back to the early 70's when Barney Sofro saw his first 2002. After his usual vigilant investigation, he determined that the 2002 was not only quick and pretty, but also extremely safe. Thus, In 1972, Barney purchased a beautiful Malaga 2002. Barney lovingly drove his car for the next 15 years. Finally, he decided to pass this car on to his young son Jeff.
Jeff drove the car for the next year. Although he shared his father's enthusiasm
for the car, a collision moved him to part with it. The car was sold to a service
specialist and eventually sold to a local Glendale, CA. doctor.

Sometime in 1996, Barney's son David went on the search for a car. One day, he passed a 2002 parked
on the roadside that was for sale. Upon seeing the car, he was flooded with great memories of
childhood trips to school and the magnificent aroma of his father's old 2002. He decided to
inquire and upon doing so, discovered that this person also had another 2002 for sale. Low and
behold, the other 2002 turned out to be none other than Barney's original car. Well, there was
no hesitation in what to do next! They bought the car. However, it was not in the best of
condition.
David's next plan was to locate someone who could bring the car to its original condition. Unfortunately, this was not something readily achieved. Actually, David somewhat gave up on the search. And then, in the fall of 1998, David and Barney were driving along a major Los Angeles thoroughfare when they passed a beautiful 1972 Polaris Tii. Enthusiastically they pleaded with the driver stop and allow them to inspect his car. The owner, Pasadena attorney Dan Woodard, readily responded, as would any owner of a near perfect Tii. After much discussion, they discovered that the Tii was restored by and purchased from 2002AD. And the search ended.
Below are before and after photographs of this magnificent car.
